I’m Kateřina Ondrušková from Czech Republic, and I am a painter. I do not remember the exact moment when I realized that I wanted to become an artist. I do know, however, that it was at the time when I started to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. The life of an artist was in everything around me. Creativity, respect, difference and mutual tolerance was axiomatic. I was a student then, but at the end of my studies I knew that painting was an addiction for me and a passion that will never leave me.
Inspiration comes to me from everyday life. Each day offers something new which inspires me. I am inspired and stimulated by nature and its changing seasons and the sky as days draw to a close. However, my biggest source of inspiration stems from my son, as I observe and perceive the world through his eyes.

Painting is my remedy, an answer for an aching soul, soothing a bad day. It is how I live and experience happiness and how I absorb emotions and energies. The process of creating never fails to rescue me, redeem me. It is something which doesn’t ever leave my mind and I am thinking of the process of painting several times a day, everyday. I would like those who see my paintings to enjoy the feelings of being charged and happy, to have a long lasting experience. They could recall their childhood experiences or perhaps remember familiar moments taken from travels or simply enjoy the pleasant warm feeling of colors. Just like when the sun rays reflect through the windows and create a rainbow on the walls, you feel like everything is going to be ok.
My hope is for the viewers of my paintings to experience the same feelings and energy that I experience and encounter when I create the piece. I want my paintings to appear and to feel honest, and to pick up on the things which are hard to notice and are often overlooked.
