My name is Matyas Ermenyi. I am from Máriaremete, at the border of Budapest, Hungary. I love to paint and draw. I have never thought about my path to becoming an artist and I guess I still have not realized it yet. I only know that I have loved to draw ever since I was a young child. My process always begins with drawing. I make hundreds of drawings of the actual subject. If a drawing reaches a satisfactory point, then I will make a bigger drawing of it with brushes and paint. My wish for viewers of my work is that I wish they could travel back in time to their childhood to experience that childish amazement again. That free association, playfulness, heightened fantasy.

If I had the opportunity to create a public installation, then I would want it somewhere that is hard to find, in the middle of nowhere. Only the most curious to look for it would have a chance to see it. The deeper purpose of my work, I know it sounds cheesy, but creating a micro reality where you can have a little rest and where you can get lost. If this happens to one of the viewers out of a thousand, then I’m more than happy. My work summed up in one sentence is: trees.
