Shuang Jiang’s paintings stem from a reflection on the subtle connections between the individual and all living things. Life carries both sharpness and inherent fragility, and all things move between conflict and harmony, where resilience and vulnerability coexist. In her recent oil paintings, the artist uses abstract forms, lines, and sharp edges to capture the shifting states of life within chaos. To her, no life truly disappears — it only changes form and continues in different ways within the universe. The inner tensions of life generate a force that keeps all things in constant motion and transformation.
Born in 1999 in Dalian, China, Shuang Jiang currently lives and works in London. She graduated from the Printmaking Department of Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts in 2022 and completed her MFA at the Royal College of Art in London in 2024. Apart from oil paintings, her practice also includes printmaking, installations, and video.
